Beemaid Website
& Brand

Roles: art direction, UX/UI design, photoshoot direction

BeeMaid is an organization made up of more than 300 Western Canadian beekeepers who have been caring for the honeybees and harvesting their honey since the inception of their Co-ops in the 1930s, and the formation of BeeMaid Honey Limited in 1954. They are committed to providing pure, delicious honey in every bottle that they package, to households across Canada and beyond. Their beekeepers, who are also producers and company owners, can be found in the honey-producing region of Canada from Alberta to Manitoba.

As part of the website redesign, the BeeMaid brand was expanded with new colours and typography, a honeycomb pattern and illustrative elements relating to honeybees and their hives. As well, a photo shoot was planned and art directed to ensure that all photography used on the site was original and truly representative of the beekeepers and their product.

The overall result is a website that is warm, whimsical and contemporary. The offset grid layout and layered scrapbook approach is playful, interesting and unique, and sets BeeMaid apart from its competitors. Created to appeal to Canadian households, bakers and crafters – the design system is inspired by the beekeepers dedication to the quality of their product, which is 100% traceable from hive to home.
